To ensure a correct fit, the best method is to measure an existing belt from the point where the leather folds around the buckle to the hole that is most frequently used. For example, a waist size of 34 inches in pants will generally fit best with a size 38 needlepoint belt. The belt will be stiff at first, but the leather will soften with wear.
